About

Counselling for men, at your own pace.

I’m Mika Sillanpää, M.Div., RCC — a Registered Clinical Counsellor with more than 20 years’ experience supporting men through anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, relationship and family pressures, and life’s hardest transitions. No pressure to have the words figured out before you start.

Why a focus on men’s mental health

Men often carry a lot before ever walking into a counsellor’s office — and that’s exactly why this practice pays close attention to how men experience it.

The stakes are real

In Canada, four of every five suicides are among men — one of the clearest signs of how much men are carrying alone.1 Reaching out isn’t a last resort; it’s a reasonable, practical step.

You don’t need the words ready

Many men come to counselling without having done this before, or without a name for what they’re feeling yet. That’s a normal starting point here, not a barrier to it.

Practical, not performative

Sessions focus on what’s actually useful — naming what’s going on, building tools that fit your life, and making steady progress — at a pace that respects where you’re starting from.

Portrait of Mika Sillanpää

With more than 20 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families, Mika Sillanpää is a
compassionate Registered Clinical Counsellor dedicated to helping people find hope, healing, and lasting
change. Having worked throughout Canada and internationally, Mika brings deep experience supporting
clients through anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, relationship challenges, family conflict, and
life transitions — with particular attention to how men experience and talk about these struggles,
and to making that first step into counselling feel approachable rather than daunting.

Known for genuine warmth, a practical approach, and a gift for building trusting relationships, Mika
creates a safe, non‑judgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. Every person
has the capacity to grow — and meaningful change begins with feeling truly seen and supported.

Mika is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC),
registration number 28950, and practises within the
scope permitted by that credential in British Columbia.

Approach & what to expect

First session

We’ll review your intake information together, talk through what brought you in, and agree on what counselling with Restored Perspective will look like for you.

Confidential & client-centred

Sessions are private, with clearly explained limits to confidentiality under BC law, covered in the consent form you review before your first appointment.

Format

60-minute sessions, available in person at our office or by secure video, based on availability shown on the booking page.

New to counselling?

Most men who book a first session haven’t done this before. There’s no expectation to arrive with everything sorted out — just a willingness to start the conversation.

Fees

A standard session is 60 minutes, billed at the full hourly rate.

Individual session

$195.00 CAD per 60-minute session. Exact pricing is confirmed on the booking page before you pay.

Extended insurance

A receipt suitable for extended health insurance reimbursement is issued after each session. Direct billing availability depends on your insurer — confirm coverage details during booking.

Cancellation policy

At least 48 hours’ notice is required to change or cancel without charge. Cancellations or no-shows with less notice may be charged 100% of the session fee. See the Cancellation & Payment Authorization form for full terms.

$195.00 CAD is the standard per-session rate.
Update this figure on this page, the booking page, and all 8 forms together if the practice’s fee changes — they are not currently linked automatically.

Before this site goes live
Mika’s bio, RCC registration number, business contact details, and privacy officer contact are now in place, but every form in
“Forms & policies” below still needs a full legal/regulatory review, and a couple of smaller placeholders
remain inside them (e.g. how client data is hosted/secured, sliding-scale policy). Have BCACC and a BC lawyer
review the forms, and replace every remaining [PLACEHOLDER] with real information, before accepting real
clients or real payments.
